Learning Teaching Training Event in Poland

The first training event was organized by WSB University in Torun. This event was especially devoted to building digital literacy connected with designing and producing eLearning language courses and served as the introduction to learning about the needs of the employers concerning the language skills of their future employees. There was also room for an exchange of expertise and good practices of LSP teaching.

The following agenda was realized during the training event:

Day one: eLearning management and production – from an idea to an eLearning course

  • how blended learning is conducted by language teaches in the times of pandemic, how eLearning materials facilitate video-classes with students, how their skills are verified and evaluated and what can be learned from this experience
  • guests were invited who work for business and actively participate in recruitment processes. The representatives of two companies, IVY Technology and Allegro.pl as well as the representative of WSB Career’s Office gave their insights on the language skills of the university alumni, their skills gaps, and recommended improvements to education processes that will facilitate employability.
  • a presentation of the findings gathered from a questionnaire created by the project participants concerning the LSP for employability and language education insights.
  • the questionnaire was conducted by each partner university and gathered altogether 113 responds. (SEE THE PRESENTATION OF FINDINGS)
    how to build the outline of the engaging and effective study materials for students on the basis of examples and ADDIE model.

Day two: Moodle and Design Thinking for eLearning Session

  • a practical workshop on Moodle platform e-cjo.eu
  • the workshop with Design Thinking moderator showing how to incorporate DT method in creating study materials. DT is a human-centred and need-centred method that allows to create innovative solutions
  • a practical workshop conducted with accordance to DT principles (Empathy, Brainstorming, Prototyping) focused on generating ideas to the eLearning course produced as a result of the project

Day three: ICT tools for language teaching

  • a workshop with WSB Centre of Modern Teaching Technologies focused on producing video materials, audio podcasts, interactive reading exercises, editing them, recording powerful presentations, applying open source tools to Moodle courses to make them attractive and engaging for users
  • how to create brain-friendly materials for online education to improve the learning process – storytelling and escape rooms for eLearning materials

As a result of this event, the participants built the knowledge base about the needs of the language competencies required from students on the labour market and learnt the skills necessary to design and produce eLearning materials.
